A group of friends recently went on a fishing trip off of the coast of Santa Cruz, California in what they thought was going to be a regular trip. But, since one of the friends was able to use a camera really well, it turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences caught on film. One of the men, Mark Peters, brought his underwater camera with him on the trip. He was hoping to film albacore tuna with the camera. Peters invented a custom case for the camera, which floated 45 feet behind the boat in the wake and 4 feet underwater.
Peters and the gang of friends began to catch the tuna with their fishing lines and also with the camera. When the boat reached 20 miles off the coast, a group of white-sided dolphins approached the camera. The dolphins, as you can see in the video, seem to be amazed by the lens of the camera.
Peters had no idea what he caught on film until he watched it later with his family. After viewing the video, Peters uploaded it to his Vimeo account and titled it ‘The Blue.’ The video continues to acquire hits, with just over 100,000 in just a couple of days. Some people who have viewed the video claim that it has been aided by computer animation. Peters said that “If it was CGI, I’d be working for George Lucas tomorrow.”
