Faculty Hired at Indiana Tech Law School

The very first faculty members have been hired at Indiana Tech Law School, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2013. The first employees hired by the law school are André Douglas Pond Cummings, Victoria Duke, Guadalupe Luna, and Phebe Poydras. All of the newly hired employees are minority women except for Cummings. Cummings earned his J.D. from Howard University. Another hire, from Northeastern School of Law, is Peter Alexander, who is African-American.

Poydras and Duke join Indiana Tech Law School from Florida A&M College of Law. Poydras earned her J.D. from Southern University Law Center and works as an assistant professor of law and as an associate dean for library affairs. Poydras has over 11 years of experience in law library. Duke currently works as an associate professor of law in the tort section. Duke earned her J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

For the previous 20 years, Luna has worked as a member of the faculty at Northern Illinois University College of Law. The Indiana Tech Law School will hire Cummings as its chief academic officer. Cummings spent the previous nine years working at the West Virginia University College of Law. Cummings earned a J.D. from Howard University. There will be six more faculty members hired by the law school during the upcoming academic year.

Jim Vassallo: Jim is a freelance writer based out of the suburbs of Philadelphia in New Jersey. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' Jim lives in New Jersey with his wife Nicole, son Tony and dog Phoebe.
