Jason Bohn Sought for Murder of Danielle Thomas in Astoria

According to authorities, a boyfriend is being sought for the murder of his girlfriend. The boyfriend is so brazen that he threatened his girlfriend via a cell phone call while she was at a police station applying for a restraining order against him. Danielle Thomas’ body was found Tuesday night in Astoria, Queens at the apartment she shared with Jason Bohn. Thomas worked as a senior financial analyst for Weight Watchers and Bohn is a lawyer.

On June 7, Thomas went to the police station for the 114th Precinct to report that Bohn severely beat her by punching her in the face and torso, which left her body bloody and bruised. According to sources, Bohn screamed ‘It’s War!’ in his call to Thomas. “I’ll dedicate my life to hunting you down like a dog in the streets. I am going to make your life impossible.”

Thomas was issued the restraining order but it did not save her life. Police believe that Bohn has fled New York. Bohn earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Columbia University and his law degree from the University of Florida. Bohn met Thomas while at a football game in Florida.

“She was my only child and my mother’s only grandchild. She was really enjoying New York. She loved her job and they loved her,” said Jamie Thomas Bright, Danielle’s mother said. Bohn recently met Thomas’ family when Danielle invited the family on a cruise to the Caribbean. The family said that Bohn appeared overly possessive of Danielle during the cruise.

“On the cruise a couple of months ago we noticed he was very, very jealous,” said Juanita Hardgrove, Danielle’s grandmother. “Danielle called me Nana, and she was my only grandchild. She was a straight-A student, at the top of her class in high school and in college. She studied hard for years and years. She was just beautiful inside and out. She loved her school, loved people.”

Bohn was charged with misdemeanor assault in connection with the beating of Thomas and charged with aggravated harassment for the threats via the cell phone calls. Thomas also told officers at the 114th Precinct that day that she had received threatening emails from Bohn earlier in the day that called her a ‘whore’ and a ‘f—king moron.’ The emails also warned Thomas to stay away from the apartment, which is where she was found beaten to death after a friend called police to ask if they could check on her.

The couple used to live together in Winter Haven, Florida and just recently moved to the apartment in Astoria. Neighbors of the couple claim that Thomas was beaten multiple times by Bohn but she did not want to break up with him until she acquired the restraining order.

“He used to beat her all the time. I’ve heard her screaming and crying, and so have many of the other neighbors,” said one unidentified neighbor. “He would scream at her and tell her to get out. She would say, ‘Where would I go? I have nowhere to go!’ ”
