Lauren Manzo, Daughter of New Jersey Houswife, Talks about Weight Issues

One of the members of the television show Real Housewives of New Jersey, Lauren Manzo, recently said that the lap band surgery she had performed has not helped her with her constant weight issues.

“A lot of people are telling me I took the easy way out, which I didn’t because I struggle every day still with the lap band,” Manzo said in an exclusive with Celebuzz. “People tell me that I am lazy, but I am not lazy at all — I am in the gym every morning at 6:30 a.m. to 8: 30 a.m.”

Manzo, 24, is the daughter of New Jersey housewife Caroline Manzo. She said that “her family was very supportive of her decision. I think a lot of it was in my head that they weren’t,” she admitted. “I thought they were calling me fat even if they weren’t.”

Manzo has successfully lost 30 pounds from her former 185-pound frame.

“My goal weight is 115 to 120,” Manzo, who recently was able to get into size six pants, said. “To be honest, I don’t ever remember weighing 120 on a scale. My whole life, I remember always being between 150 and 160. I have always been heavy like that.”

Manzo is on a very strict diet right now and said that she suffers if she strays away from it or does not take small bites of her food.

“I eat a lot of protein and vegetables. No salt, no sugar, no carbs and no fat. It really is not easy. If I take a big bite of anything — doesn’t matter what it is — I will probably end up throwing it up.”

Manzo has said that adhering to the diet is not always the easiest thing to do, especially since her family has a home-cooked Sunday dinner each week, which is an Italian tradition. Manzo said she has been able to introduce some healthier options to her family’s Sunday dinners that have helped her stick with the diet.

“Now I cook healthy meals and my mom enjoys them with me,” she said. “In the winter, it’s the hardest because we have all the cheese and wine and the pasta, but now nobody wants that because it’s summer. We want to barbecue, so it is a little bit easier for me right now.”

When she was asked about the drama that seems to constantly occur on the show, Manzo said that she was shocked at how Teresa Giudice has behaved recently.

“She really, truly believes her own lies,” Manzo said. Manzo also said that Guidice has turned “delusional” ever since the series began.
