Mel Gibson’s Father, Hutton, Files for Divorce Claiming Elder Abuse by Wife

The father of Mel Gibson, Hutton Gibson, has filed for divorce from his wife and has claimed elder abuse against his wife. Hutton is 93 and filed for divorce last week in an effort to end the marriage to his wife of 10 years. His wife’s name is Teddy Joye. Hutton has made the claims that Teddy has been abusing him while he is suffering from serious illness and taking medications.

Joye is 78 and she claims that Hutton’s family is prolonging his life unnecessarily and would like to have him stop taking the medications in order to make his death quicker. Multiple times, Teddy and Mel have fought over the issue; with Mel rushing to his father’s side many times to help him take his prescribed pills.

In the divorce filing, Hutton claimed ‘irreconcilable differences,’ which he signed with a very shaky hand. Hutton had 10 children with his first wife while living in New York. He moved the family to Australia using money won on the television game show ‘Jeopardy.’ In Australia, the couple adopted another child. In 2002, Hutton married Joye after his first wife died. Hutton once questioned history, saying that there could not have been six million Jews killed during the Holocaust.
