Hey everyone! Today is my FIRST DAY at my internship! Not going to lie: I am SCARED! Haha excited, nervous and a little scared! Mostly because I have no idea what I’ll be doing. I’ve been told where to show up at 9am. I don’t even know what exactly my hours are, what I’ll be doing and what I’ll be working on! Hopefully I’ll get that all figured out today!

Yesterday was the day of errands! I woke up and did a lot of cleaning around my apartment. I left right after finals so things were a bit of a mess! I also did Jillian’s 30 Day Shred, and I completely forgot how rough these are! I was sweating bullets!

Afterwards, I walked a ways to turn in my lease for next year and pick up a new CTA card to use public transportation. During the school year we get what’s called a U-Pass, which most students get and they can use all public transportation with. That, however, expired at the end of the semester so now I have to pay for using the bus. Yes, I have to pay $2.25 each way to go to my unpaid internship every day… Oh the irony.

After that, I headed to CVS to pick up a prescription and grabbed a bottle of water while I was in there. It was in the 90s in Chicago and all that walking around was leaving me parched!

After that, I headed to my brother’s for some play time with Molly and to pick up my pets that he’d been watching over. Neville came home with me, and the hermit crabs… Well. Here’s the bad news. The hermit crabs have passed away.

Please, don’t cry! They had a long and happy life. I’m not sure what finally did them in, but they both passed away. And no, I don’t blame my brother. I’m actually pretty sure the bigger one (Padfood, aka Big Dude) was dead when I brought them over… Long story. He also gave a lovely eulogy. Very moving.

Anywho, let’s all have a moment of silence for Padfoot and Prongs.

The end.

Moving on…

This month I participated in Julie’s Book Club again. Julie writes the blog Peanut Butter Fingers and every month she selects three books that her readers vote on. The winning book is the Book Club Book of the Month and if you want to participate you can either just read the book, or also write a review on your blog. My favorite part of this book club is that it gets me to read books that I would never have read on my own, and this month’s book I definitely would not have picked up! I actually read the summary when voting and thought, oh no! Not this one!

Well I totally take it back. I LOVED this book!

The book this month was called Still Missing by Chevy Stevens.

The story is centered around a 32 year old realtor, Annie O’Sullivan, who is abducted from an open house by a man she’d never seen before. The story follows her difficult struggle through trying to fight back and then realizing the only way she’ll survive is to give in and do as he says. The reader discovers her story slowly, though sessions with her psychiatrist. I love that the author writes it in this manner because it’s completely from Annie’s point of view, looking back and explaining why she did what she did and how the situation made her feel.

Another thing I enjoyed about this book was that it was more than just the story of her abduction, it was about the aftermath of the abduction and the influence that had on her relationships with others and her life from then on.

But, the story doesn’t end there! I was pleasantly surprised by many twists and turns in Annie’s story, and honestly, I was a little scared!!! I actually finished the book in one day because I was reading it before bed and got so scared that I didn’t want to go to sleep in the middle of a scary part – so I kept reading until it was resolved! Haha, it clearly kept me wrapped up in the story! I’m not normally a fan of scary movies, but I really enjoyed this book because it kept me guessing and I enjoyed the look into the psychological aspect of being abducted as well as surviving and trying to go back to your life beforehand.

I highly recommend this book if you want a quick and interesting summer read. Perfect page turner for the beach!
