Bristol Palin Slams Obama’s Same-Sex Marriage Decision

Bristol Palin took to her blog earlier this week to slam President Barack Obama about his announcement regarding his support for same-sex marriage. Palin said that she is upset at the fact that Obama came to his decision because his daughters have friends who have gay parents. Palin also decided to take a swing at the television show ‘Glee.’

“Is anyone really surprised by the fact that President Obama came out of the closet for gay marriage?” Palin, 21, wrote. “What was most surprising is when he explained how his position (supposedly) ‘evolved,’ by talking to his wife and daughters. While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads.”

Palin ended her blog rant by offering some jokes about pop culture and referenced Obama’s daughters, Malia and Sasha.

“I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as attorney general because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox,” she wrote.

“Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the president would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of ‘Glee.'”

The blog rant from Palin came not long after Obama talked with Robin Roberts on ABC at the White House. Obama said the following to Roberts during the interview: “At a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married. When I meet gay and lesbian couples … for me, I think it just has tipped the scales in that direction.”

The issue of same-sex marriage is a hot button topic across the country and possible Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, is opposed to same-sex marriage along with a large number of states. Earlier this week, North Carolina voted to approve an amendment to their constitution that defines marriage as being between a woman and a man.

During the interview with Roberts on ABC, Obama said that he feels people who are against same-sex marriage are not necessarily ‘mean-spirited.’ He also recognized the fact that the states have their own right to ban same-sex marriage if they so choose. Obama made sure to stress the fact that it is a personal opinion.
