Bill Clinton calls Obama an “Amateur” — or Not?

A new biography entitled “Amateur” by Edward Klein, who once wrote columns for Newsweek, puts some rude remarks against Obama into Bill Clinton’s mouth. For instance, Bill allegedly addressed Hillary Clinton:

“The Country needs you!” and he urged her to quit her position as Secretary of State to run against Obama.

“Barack Obama is an amateur,” he is also quoted as saying, as well as “The economy’s a mess, it’s dead flat. America has lost its Triple-A rating … You know better than Obama does.” … Obama “doesn’t know how to be president,” and is “incompetent.”

Hillary allegedly remained stolid in her support of Obama. “Why risk everything now?” she asked, referencing her desire to leave a legacy as Secretary of State.

“I know you’re young enough [to put off running for now],” Bill said. “That’s not what I’m worried about. I’m worried that I’m not young enough.”

“I’m the highest-ranking member in Obama’s Cabinet. I eat breakfast with the guy every Thursday morning. What about loyalty, Bill? What about loyalty,” insisted Hillary.

“Loyalty is a joke,” retorted Bill. “Loyalty doesn’t exist in politics.”

The dialogue seems to play on popular media conceptions of Bill Clinton, but the Clintons deny the authenticity of the account. Bill Clinton’s spokesman Matt McKenna called the quotations “totally and completely false,” and referred to Klein as “a known liar.” Hillary had previously denounced Klein’s previous book “Truth about Hillary” as containing fabrications.
