Marine Charged with the Murder of another Marine’s Wife

A second person has been arrested regarding the death of Brittany Killgore, the 22-year-old wife of a Marine who was at the time stationed in Afghanistan. Police already placed Jessica Lynn Lopez, 25, under arrest with charges of first degree murder. Tuesday they added her roommate Marine Staff Sgt. Luis Ray Perez, 45, to the list of suspects, after placing him under arrest. He was already jailed at the time for a charge of illegal possession of firearms.

Killgore had already filed for divorce, and was dating Perez. The last time she was seen was when she was wearing an evening dress heading out for a date with him. Her apartment is in Camp Pendleton in San Diego.

“We believe he knows more than what he initially told us,” said Sherriff’s Capt. Duncan Fraser, when the case first broke out. “We do not believe he is being cooperative with us.”

Now they have discovered substantial evidence, though they have not specified to the public what it is, to justify an arrest.

Killgore’s body was discovered near Lake Skinner in Riverside County, after being missing since April 13. Jessica Lopez pled not guilty, and is being held in San Diego County jail with a $3-million bond. Her arrest followed her attempted suicide note which included a suicide note, and the subsequent medical attention she received.

The details on this case are still emerging to the public.
