Chinese Beekeeper Covers Body in 73 Pounds of Bees

Not everyone is deathly afraid of bees, or deathly allergic to them either, as one beekeeper in China was able to prove recently. A Chinese beekeeper decided to cover his body with 73 pounds of bees, which comes out to around 331,000 bees on one body. The reason for the placement of the bees on the beekeeper’s body was to break a world record and it occurred on Wednesday. The beekeeper, She Ping, a 32-year-old, was able to break the previous world record of 59 pounds of bees. That record was set back in 2008 by another beekeeper from China named Ruan Liangming.

The website for the Guinness World Records did not mention either of the two beekeepers from China. The website did mention the person who holds the record though, Vipin Seth, who is from India. Reportedly, the man was able to place 136 pounds, 4 ounces of bees on his body. The record is referred to as the ‘Heaviest Mantle of Bees’ by Guinness World Records. So basically, the effort put forth by Liangming in 2008 and now Ping seems to have been done in vain since neither of them hold the world record for largest swarm of bees on one person’s body at one time.
