Man Dies After Swans Tip Kayak

Anthony Hensley worked for a company that used swans and dogs to keep geese from properties on a pond in Des Plaines, Illinois. Hensley was at work when two swans swam towards the kayak Hensley was in, causing him to fall off of it and drown. Hensley was 37. Hensley was wearing boots and other heavy clothing when he fell into the water. He died as he tried to swim back to the shore as witnesses looked on at the incident in horror.

“His kayak wasn’t upside down, but it was, like, upwards,” Daniel Gamanov said. “You could see the tip of it.”

It has been reported that the death has been ruled an accident. Hensley leaves his two children and his wife behind. The children are so young that they have yet to be told their father is not coming home anymore.

“He’s going to be remembered as one of the most wonderful fathers in the world,” said Hensley’s brother-in-law, Tony Macri. “A very good father, a very good husband; there wasn’t a mean bone in his body.”

Hensley did not have life insurance when he passed away so a fund has been setup to help his family deal with the funeral costs.
