Lawyer in Michigan Disbarred for Incomplete Legal License

Gbenda Anjorin has been practicing law in the state of Michigan for quite some years but what no one knew until now is that he was doing so without a complete legal license in the state. Anjorin has handled hundreds of DUI cases, cases assigned by the court system in the state, and has served as a monitor in the ‘Underwear Bomber’ case.

Anjorin was disbarred back in March and has since told media outlets in the state that he is going to appeal the disbarment. The chance to appeal the disbarment is an oddity since he never held a complete legal license to practice in the state. Anjorin graduated from a law school in Nigeria.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Anjorin, “leveraged a rarely issued limited license for foreign lawyers into an unauthorized, three-year legal career in criminal, civil and traffic courts around metro Detroit.”

The files of Anjorin are being rifled through by court officials in an effort to contact his former clients, especially those currently sitting in prison.

A local judge told the Detroit Free Press that “Mr. Anjorin is our Nigerian nightmare.” The judge’s comment was in reference to Kansas City Chiefs running back Christian Emeka Okoye, a Nigerian-American, who is known as the ‘Nigerian Nightmare.’
