What is the Flashback Trojan Virus on Mac?

In what is an interesting piece of news, those who use Apple Macintosh products can now be susceptible to the Flashback Trojan malware. It has been estimated that close to 600,000 Mac users have already been infected with the virus. This article has some of the best known methods to find the Trojan virus and get rid of it from your Mac.

One of the most important things to know about the Flashback Trojan malware is the fact that it is a Trojan and not technically a virus. Even though both a Trojan and a virus are malicious software, the biggest difference between the two is that a Trojan horse does not have the ability to infect other computers. When a Trojan horse appears on a computer it typically appears to be helpful but it can make your data vulnerable to attack. The Flashback Trojan is also known as BackDoor.Flashback.39 and was originally found as a false Adobe Flash Player plug-in installer in September of 2011.

Dr. Web was the company that reported the amount of Mac owners infected with the virus. The company also offers an online tool for Mac users to check and see if they have the virus. Mac users could also use FlashbackChecker, which can be found at GitHub, to find the virus on their system. A lot of Mac users employ the help of VirusBarrier, which should be able to scan the system and find the virus and then remove it if the system is infected with it.
