Lawsuit: ‘McDonald’s Made Me a Prostitute’

The most common question asked by employees working at McDonalds is that of ‘Would you like fries with that?’ Not often do you hear any other type of question come out of their mouths. But one employee is claiming that McDonald’s turned her into a prostitute. For all that we know, this is the first time that a former employee is suing the fast food chain for turning an employee into a prostitute. The woman, Shelley Lynn, filed a lawsuit in federal court in California recently against McDonald’s, her ex-husband, Keith Handley, and his restaurant company, Ivernia.

Lynn claims in the lawsuit that she met Handley while working at the counter at a McDonald’s, which soon led to her walking the streets as a prostitute. According to Lynn, Handley was her former boss while working at the McDonald’s, and he convinced her that the most effective way to make money was to spread her legs. While working at a brothel close to Las Vegas, Lynn quickly became the top booker and had to have sex with 12 men in one night.

According to the complaint filed in court by Lynn, McDonald’s “failed to conduct a due diligence into the moral character of Handley when it sold franchises to him.”

The lawsuit also says that Lynn alleges McDonald’s “failed to properly supervise and train Handley, as a direct result of which Handley used his position as an employer and conspired with his corporation Ivernia to coerce and bribe two of Ivernia’s employees to make false statements against Lynn during Handley’s dissolution and to suppress relevant evidence he had disclosed about himself … . Handley also engaged in pimping operations out of the McDonald’s franchises he owned.”

Lynn is asking for special damages, lost wages, punitive damages and compensatory damages for negligent retention and supervision of franchisees, sex trafficking and racketeering.
