Loeb & Loeb LLP Adds Barry E. Mallen

According to a press release from Loeb & Loeb LLP, the firm has announced that its Los Angeles office has added Barry E. Mallen to its IP and Entertainment Litigation Practice as a partner. Mallen comes from the law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP. He worked there as a partner and was the co-chair for the Entertainment Litigation practice. “Barry is a strategic addition to our firm, bringing a wide range of expertise that will further enhance our cross-practice capabilities,” said Mickey Mayerson. Mayerson is Loeb & Loeb LLP’s managing partner for its office in Los Angeles. “He will be a great complement to our entertainment group as well as asset to our entertainment clients in the music and motion picture industries.”

Mallen focuses on work within the entertainment, copyright and media litigation for television, music and film clients. Mallen has worked as the defense lawyer for various lawsuits involving copyright infringement, breach of contract, violation of the Lanham Act and trademark infringement. Mallen has also helped litigate audit disputes for television, publishing, motion picture, recording and the merchandising industries.

Some of the companies and musicians Mallen has worked with include the following: Anschutz Entertainment Group, Summit Entertainment, NBC Universal, Concord Music Group, Neil Young, Brian Wilson, John Fogerty, KISS and The Rolling Stones to name a few.

Mallen is permitted to practice law in California and in front of the U.S. District Court, Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California. He is also permitted to practice in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mallen acquired his B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles. Mallen then earned his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.

Mallen is on the Board of Editors for the Law Journal Newsletter, Entertainment Law & Finance.  Mallen was named in the ‘Top Five Copyright Lawyers’ by the Los Angeles Daily Journal. From 2004-2012, Mallen has been named as a Southern California Super Lawyer in Entertainment.

Jim Vassallo: Jim is a freelance writer based out of the suburbs of Philadelphia in New Jersey. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' Jim lives in New Jersey with his wife Nicole, son Tony and dog Phoebe.
