Let’s Pretend It’s Yesterday…

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend! First of all, I realized yesterday afternoon that I didn’t acknowledge a big milestone! Yesterday was the 6 month anniversary of my blog! It’s crazy to think that I started this blog hoping I would make it a week and then see if I still liked it, and now I’m going on 6 months!

Check out my old blog before I bought my own domain name. Or my FIRST POST! So weird to go back and read those!

Starting my blog was something I just did for fun, I read so many other blogs that I just wanted some kind of creative outlet to write about things in my life. However now, it’s so much more! I’ve realized what amazing women are in the blogging community and how generous and welcoming they all are!

Blogging is now not only a creative outlet, but also a way to keep myself accountable with exercise and trying new healthy foods, and a great way to meet new, amazing people! I’ve gotten to spend some time with Chelsey, like when we ran 7 miles and then ended it with a 5K race! Or my lunch dates with Kathleen and Cate, as well as blogger meet ups both back in September for a cooking class, and just this past weekend for yoga and dinner. I even got to meet Kate yesterday for some coffee!

I’ve also talked to a lot of women online who I consider my blogger friends and hope to meet them one day! Haha, Ashley, we’ll make it happen one day!

Not only have I met a lot of great people, but I’ve also changed quite a bit over the past 6 months. I got back into running and ran several 5Ks, a 10K and my first ever 10 mile race! Now I’m training for a half marathon and I’m signed up to run the Chicago Marathon!

I also found out that I am intolerant to white sugar, pasteurized milk, gluten and soy! Whew! Quite a list! But if it weren’t for the blogging community, I have no idea how I would have dealt with it, or had any idea of what to eat!

I also fell in love:

Molly happened! And we all know how much I love Molly.

So thank you to everyone who reads my blog, you have no idea how much I appreciate your comments, as well as any personal messages or e-mails that you send me!

Now, on to more delicious things!

Yesterday I went to my Bikram Yoga class (my Groupon runs out in March!) and then afterwards met up with my cousin for brunch. We decided to go to Yolk, because I had seen it on Kathleen’s blog and I knew it had to be good!

I looked up the menu online beforehand and knew it was perfect for me. Since I can’t eat gluten, breakfast can be hard. Almost everything on the menu has wheat: pancakes, waffles, french toast, crepes, biscuits, english muffins…. But Yolk had a TON of omelets, scrambles and frittatas!

After some serious debate, I ended up ordering the Garden Delight Omelet:

Fresh zucchini, asparagus, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes
rolled into a three egg omelette. Topped with monterey jack
cheese and sour cream.  9.9

I got it with egg whites, fruit on the side, and salsa instead of sour cream. It was HUGE but totally delicious!

Can you tell that I had a bite of my omelet before Allie reminded me to take a picture? Thank goodness for friends. I would have completely forgotten! Just like I forgot to take pictures from drinks and dinner at a Mexican restaurant the night before… Oops.

After brunch, and plenty of running talk, I headed over to my beloved Argo Tea to get some work done, and then met with Kate! It was great getting to meet another Chicago-area blogger, and runner!

Then I headed home, made a quick lunch, and kept working away! Don’t worry, there was some relaxing too… I bought The Help on i-tunes! I had a gift card and couldn’t resist, I loved the movie and the book! And no, I did not watch the Super Bowl. 1) Because I don’t have a TV and 2) I just wasn’t into either of the teams this year. But don’t worry, I’ll be looking for commercials on You Tube today!

How much as your life changed in the past 6 months?

What is your favorite thing to order when out for brunch?

And Just FYI – I added a Running tab at the top of screen, with past races and upcoming races!

I'm originally from Kansas City, MO and I did my undergrad at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. I started this blog in August of 2011 because I needed a creative outlet and I wanted to write about my life in a way that other women could relate to and realize that they aren’t alone in many aspects of their lives.
