Witnesses Rescue Atkins Family Following Plane Crash

A family from Richardson, Texas was pulled from harms’ way after their plane crashed into the ocean off the coast of a Caribbean island near Honduras. The family was pulled to safety by bystanders who witnessed the entire ordeal.

“We lost an engine, is what I was told, and we crashed into the ocean and flipped over and were stuck underwater,” Andy Atkins said.

The plane’s pilot helped Atkins reach the surface of the water but his family was still missing when he reached the top. His wife Jenny and their four-year-old son Logan were on the flight as well. Witnesses to the crash in a nearby boat dove into the water to rescue the two missing family members.

“It reaffirms your faith in people and humanity,” Atkins said.

This story is very similar to a story that happened earlier in January in Utah. A family was saved by witnesses after their car skidded off a road and then plunged into the Logan River.

Also, in Logan, Utah, a motorcyclist was rescued by witnesses after being pinned underneath the vehicle following an accident last year.

It seems as though there is such a thing as a good Samaritan these days.
