Sinead O’Connor Divorces after 16 Days

Kim Kardashian can learn something about marriage, or length of marriage, from Sinead O’Connor. O’Connor, the Irish singer, married her short-term boyfriend, Barry Herridge, earlier this month in Las Vegas. The marriage lasted 16 days, when she and Herridge decided to end the marriage.

To beat a leak in the media, O’Connor announced the breakup in a blog post on her website. “From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me,” she wrote on Monday, only 18 days after her Dec. 8 wedding.

“Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband’s life,” she continued, according to the Los Angeles Times.

O’Connor, further along in her post, revealed some more information that is very interesting:

“And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don’t drink. My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage.”

Herridge is a youth substance-abuse counselor in Dublin, which makes this blog post very interesting to say the least. It happens in marriages, where family members do not approve of those who marry into the family. So, what happened during O’Connor’s search around Las Vegas for weed on her wedding night?

“He is a wonderful man,” O’Connor continued. “I love him very much. I’m sorry I’m not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren’t aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband’s life and the lives of those close to him. He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage. I think he is too nice to do so. And too nice to trap.”

O’Connor also wrote on her website that the marriage lasted for a total of 16 days, which means it ended on Christmas Eve. She also said that she and Herridge only lived together for seven days. O’Connor went on to warn the media and her fans to stay away from her ex-husband and his family. All criticism should be directed towards her.

“I’m fair game. He or his family are not.”

This website post by O’Connor ends her search for love, which began in August, when she posted a blog on her website that had her pleading for a new man.

O’Connor concluded her blog post on her website with, “so now u can all go ahead and have a great laugh, media wise, and be horrid if u desire to. But that’s my record set straight.”

Herridge was the fourth husband for O’Connor.
