Wilson Sonsini & Rosati increases ranks

Wilson Sonsini & Rosati adding to its ranks. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based firm, specializing in technology, life sciences and growth industries, plans to make 10 of its associates partners, according to a press release. Those promotions become effective Feb. 1.

”We take great pride in the legal skills, expertise, and commitment of our associates, as well as their immense dedication to clients,” CEO Steve Bochner said.

Bochner described this year’s class as “particularly accomplished and promising.” He stressed the firm leadership’s confidence in the new partners and believes they’ll make “valuable contributions.” The slate of new partners represents both a geographic, but practice diversity.

They include:

Joseph M. Alcorta, Corporate & Securities. The Austin, Tex.-based Alcorta represents public and emerging growth companies, investment banks, venture capital firms as well as private investors. He’s a 2000 University of Texas School of Law graduate and earned an MBA from the University of Texas School of Business.

Samir Elamrani, Intellectual Property. The San Diego, Calif.-based Elamrani represents biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and nanotechnology clients on patent law and related business matters. He’s a 1999  University of Houston Law Center graduate. He also earned a Ph.Ds in chemistry from the University of Houston’s Institute of Molecular Design and the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon, France.

Morris J. Fodeman, Litigation. The New York-based Fodeman handles white-collar criminal defense, Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement defense, compliance and regulatory matters, internal investigations as well as complex civil litigation. Fodeman’s previous experience includes serving as a federal prosecutor in New York. He’s a 1997 Emory University School of Law graduate.

Tung-On Kong, Litigation. The San Francisco-based Kong specializes in patent litigation, with a particular focus on generic pharmaceuticals. He’s a 1999 Tulane Law School graduate.

James P. McCann, Real Estate & Environmental. McCann, based in Palo Alto, focuses on acquisition, development, financing, and leasing of office, industrial, biotech, and mixed-use property. He’s a 1998 Fordham University School of Law graduate.

Scott K. Murano, Corporate & Securities. Murano, who’s also Palo Alto-based, represents medical device and life sciences companies on general corporate and transactional matters, including formation and operations, venture capital transactions, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He’s a 2001 Northwestern University School of Law graduate.
