I’ve Joined the Crack-Pot Club

Don’t fret. I didn’t misspell crock-pot.

As I was dragging myself into the lobby of my building last night around 8:20pm I saw a very ragged looking box. That’s my box, isn’t it?

It was.

I dragged it into the elevator, out of the elevator and then down the hall to my apartment. No, it wasn’t heavy. I was in a dragging mood.

What could it be?

Let’s poke at it. Clearly it had a hard trip. Had to fight some other boxes to get here.

Anyone know what’s inside? Okay, okay, I knew. I had been warned it was coming!

MY VERY OWN CRACK-POT!!!!!

For the past month, several bloggers have been putting up recipes to be cooked in a Crock-Pot. Basically just rubbing it in my face that they could toss some ingredients into a pot, leave it cooking all day, and then come home to a delicious dinner.

Well you know what? I CAN TOO!

You might be curious as to why in the world I am referring to this as a crack-pot. My friend Maddie came up with the name crack-pot and I think it’s perfect. Not only is it amusing, but so many bloggers have been raving about using them that I think everyone is addicted! Haha, hence the “crack” part. Either way, I will be referring to mine as a crack pot.

So thank you to Maddie for my very early birthday present! Because it’s not like I insisted you send it early or anything… Everyone get ready for some crack-pot trials in the future!

This morning I decided to take my run into the gym. I had a 6 mile run on my schedule, but I really mixed things up this week when I had to push my 7 mile run from Sunday to Tuesday to let my knees rest. So I decided to get on the treadmill and do intervals, and just see where I ended up!

I completed 5 miles in 41:26!!! I  felt great (minus the pain in my knee and ankle) but the intervals didn’t get too winded at all! I feel like I can run so much faster on a treadmill than outside, and I still can’t figure it out! Maybe it’s because I have no choice but to run that fast, or I’d go flying off the machine…

When I got home it was time for a smoothie! Chicago is having a bit of a “heat wave” this week, so it was perfect for me to fit in some last smoothies! Today’s was the exact same as from Tuesday except this time it wasn’t like mousse! Let’s just say I was a little disappointed… I think it’s because I used almond instead of coconut milk. I’m definitely heading back to the store for more coconut milk this weekend…

Does anyone have any good crack-pot recipes that they’ve tried out so far? And is anyone else a little freaked out about leaving it plugged in a cooking while you’re gone all day!?!?!

I started this blog in August of 2011 because I needed a creative outlet and I wanted to write about my life in a way that other women could relate to and realize that they aren’t alone in many aspects of their lives.
