California Prison Population Reduction Unlikely to Happen by Deadline

According to a report on Friday, August 5 by the California Legislative Analyst’s Office, the state will probably not meet the deadline given by the Supreme Court to reduce the prison population in the state by 34,000 in 2 years.  Although a plan is in place to reduce the prison population, it would only do so by about 32,000 inmates, which would not quite reach the number required amount.  The state may request more time in order to meet the Supreme Court’s order.
