Obama Repeals ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ Military Policy

President Obama has officially resumed the policy of allowing the gays to serve openly in the military by officially signing the document on July 21, 2011. As per Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act of 2010, after the proper study of policy changes and the retraining of troops, each member of Joint Chiefs of Staff had to ensure that DADT repeal would not hinder military effectiveness. The defense of Marriage Act still prohibits the US military in providing partner benefits even though they are legally married. Even after repealing this policy gay militants may end up facing some sort of discrimination in the military.
