Breaking news from Cairo – President Mubarak has stepped down and handed over control to the military.  The announcement came on state TV by Vice President Omar Suleiman a short time ago.  With control passing to the military and not to the Vice President, it is not yet clear who is in charge.  Both Mubarak and Suleiman were military leaders before taking office and the military has long had extensive control over multiple areas of Egyptian life.
