Greenberg Traurig Snags Patent Litigation Team from Weil Gotshal

Patent litigation attorneys Vernon M. Winters and Nicholas A. Brown have joined the San Francisco office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig from Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Firm President Matthew Gorson said the additions are part of the firm’s ‘strategic growth’ in the Bay Area and California.

Greenberg Traurig has five offices in California. Its IP & technology practice is comprised of nearly 200 lawyers—more than half of which are patent attorneys–across 32 offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Winters has a national practice focusing on patent litigation and patent license litigation, in areas ranging from biopharma to computers and networks. He has acted as lead trial counsel in numerous matters, representing some of the most innovative companies in the bio- and high-technology sectors.

Brown has extensive high stakes patent litigation experience for a wide range of technology companies, as well as experience in general IP litigation and strategy. He has also been recognized by Chambers USA for his work on complex cases.

“We are exhilarated to have patent attorneys the caliber of Vern and Nick as the anchors for our San Francisco patent litigation practice. I have worked with both for many years and could not be more delighted to be reunited in a professional capacity,” said Ken Steinthal, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s San Francisco office.

Greenberg Traurig has more than 1,800 attorneys practicing around the world.
