DLA Piper Hires Team of IT Lawyers from Bird & Bird’s Paris Base

Today, DLA Piper announced that Stéphane Lemarchand will join its Intellectual Property and Technology practice in Paris as a partner in the beginning of November. He will join with a team of four associates from Bird & Bird.

Stéphane is a renowned specialist in IT and ecommerce law, with a transactional and litigation practice. His specialty is advising IT service providers on litigation matters, strategic project outsourcing and cross-border transactions.

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Stéphane was a partner at Bird & Bird for 10 years. During that time, he led the IT practice in Paris, and was also joint head of the international IT sector and the Outsourcing practice group.

In the article at legalweek.com, DLA global co-head of IP and IT Simon Levine was quoted as saying: “What we have been trying to do is build our group as a whole in Europe so that we have a full service offering in intellectual property, IT and media/sport. We wanted to make some headway in those areas that have a particularly strong market offering and Paris was one of the primary candidates with a lot of client demand for technology and outsourcing work. We will be looking to grow further over the coming months, particularly in areas of mainland Europe such as Spain and Central and Eastern Europe.”

DLA Piper today has 3,500 lawyers in offices throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States. The firm’s clients range from multinational, Global 1000, and Fortune 500 enterprises to emerging companies developing industry-leading technologies.
