Squire Sanders Closing Tallahassee Office

Squire Sander & Dempsey is closing its office in Tallahassee, Fla. on Oct. 1. The catalyst for the closure, according to the Daily Business Review, was the 2008 death of legendary Florida lobbyist Jim Krog.

Albert del Castillo, the firm’s Florida regional director, explained the move to the Daily Business Review.

“He was a tremendous leader for the office and firm, he had a strong legislative practice, and there was no way to replace him or his leadership,” del Castillo said. “That couples with the economic downturn everyone was experiencing in 2009 and 2010 led to our decision. It was a difficult decision for us.”

Squire Sander is now left with Florida offices in Miami, Tampa and West Palm Beach. The four remaining lawyers at the Tallahassee office will be able to transfer to one of the remaining three Sunshine State offices.

Founded in 1890, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. has lawyers in 32 offices and 15 countries around the world.
