Martin Ginsburg Dies

This Sunday, husband of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Martin D. Ginsburg, died at his Washington D.C. home.  A professor of tax law at Georgetown and counsel for the firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, the 78 year old Ginsburg had been suffering from cancer, according to a Supreme Court spokesperson.

Ginsburg, considered an expert in his field, practiced law for over 50 years, served in an advisory role on government tax panels and advised a stable of high-profile clients, including Ross Perot.

The Ginsburgs came to Washington in 1980, when Ruth Bader Ginsburg obtained an appointment to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.  She was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the nation’s highest court in 1993.
