Former Federal Trade Commissioner Joins Fulbright & Jaworski

Former Federal Trade Commissioner Pamela Jones Harbour will be joining Fulbright & Jaworski on May 17, the firm announced Tuesday.

Harbour will serve as a partner in Fulbright’s antitrust and competition practice. She will work from the firm’s Washington D.C. and New York offices.

Harbour had been with the Federal Trade Commission since 2003. Prior to joining the FTC, Harbour was an antitrust partner at a New York firm and worked in the New York Attorney General’s office for a decade.

“During her nearly seven years as a Commissioner, Pamela has been instrumental in shaping an ambitious Federal Trade Commission agenda that encompasses a wide variety of competition and consumer protection issues affecting virtually every economic sector,” said Steven B. Pfeiffer, chair of Fulbright’s executive committee. “Given Pamela’s significant and respected career experience, she offers our clients important guidance and unique perspectives, which will be particularly valuable in light of expanded regulatory scrutiny in many of her areas of experience.”

According to the firm, Harbour is internationally recognized as a leader in the emerging field of privacy and data security. She has also helped shape the legal discourse on technological standard setting, innovation markets, vertical distribution restraints, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology and health care.

“During her time with the Federal Trade Commission, Pamela took some stances that demonstrated a willingness to take risks and think outside the box to find solutions. She consistently staked out principled and well-reasoned positions, even when her views might buck popular thought,” said Joseph T. Small, the head of Fulbright’s Washington, D.C. office. “She is the type of lawyer we have and want at our firm – lawyers who always look out for the best interests of our clients and provide them with the best and most comprehensive service possible. We are delighted to have Pamela as part of our team.”

Fulbright & Jaworski was founded in 1919 and has nearly 1,000 lawyers in 16 locations around the world.
