Second Quarter Shows Employment Looking Up for Legal Professionals

The Robert Half Legal Hiring Index, a new quarterly report based on a survey developed by Robert Half Legal, a leading staffing service specializing in lawyers, paralegals and other highly skilled legal professionals, shows employment for legal professionals is looking up for the second quarter of 2010.

The survey was conducted by an independent research firm, and is based on telephone interviews with 100 lawyers at law firms with 20 or more employees, and 100 corporate lawyers at companies with 1,000 or more employees.

Respondents were asked, “Does your law firm/company plan to increase or decrease the number of full-time legal personnel on your staff during the second quarter of 2010?”

26% said they planned an increase, while zero respondents planned a decrease. 67% said there would be no change.

According to a press release at PR Newswire, Charles Volkert, executive director of Robert Half Legal, said, “Law firms that cut deeply during the downturn are planning to add staff to meet existing client demands and prepare for new business. Delivering superior quality and service requires having the right people in place. Reputation and competitiveness can suffer when a firm is understaffed.”
