Sam Buffone Leaves Ropes & Gray for BuckleySandler

Samuel J. Buffone has left Ropes & Gray’s government enforcement practice group to become a partner in Washington D.C.-based financial services law firm BuckleySandler.

Buffone had been with Ropes & Gray since 1992. According to a firm press release, Buffone brings over 35 years of experience representing individual and corporate clients in criminal and complex civil litigation and enforcement matters in the U.S. Among his notable achievement, Buffone argued and won an appeal in the U.S. Supreme Court last year barring further prosecution of a former Enron executive on the grounds of double jeopardy (Yeager v United States 129 S Ct. 2360 (2009).

“Sam is one of the leading criminal and civil enforcement lawyers in Washington, DC. His extensive trial and appellate experience will substantially enhance BuckleySandler’s enforcement capabilities. We are delighted to have him join us,” said Andrew L. Sandler, co-chair of BuckleySandler.

Buckley Sanders has over 75 lawyers with offices in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and New York.
