ABA To Cut Dues for Solo Lawyers and Public Service

The American Bar Association will cut the cost of dues for solo practitioners, government lawyers, judges and attorneys working for nonprofit organizations. The ABA is doing this in response to the recession and the varying economic circumstances lawyers working in these fields or situations may face.

At their midyear meeting in Orlando, Florida the new dues structure was approved by the House of Delegates. Dues will be reduced by 50% for solo practitioners and 25% for other lawyers. The changes will go into effect in May. The ABA will also create installment plan options to be available in August.
