7th Circuit Upholds Prison Rules Banning Dungeons & Dragons

It’s not a typo. Based on the theory that a Dungeons & Dragons game, with one player acting as the dungeon master controlling the other players in the game, mimics a gang structure and on some unproven links between D&D and various anti social behaviours, the 7th Circuit has upheld a prison rule banning the game or possession of game related paraphernalia. With all this escapist type behaviour, it’s a good thing these guys can’t vote

When I was a kid, my school banned D&D because some idiot somewhere supposedly ventured off into a sewer system in search of a real life dungeon adventure and was either eaten by an alligator or got lost and never came back, depending on which urban legend you believed. We all thought school was like a prison at the time, so perhaps this was just a precursor of things yet to come…
