Levi Strauss Hires Orrick – Extremely Broad Alternative Fee Arrangement

Since the start of the recession, law firms have increasingly turned to alternative fee agreements to keep business flowing in. Now Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has signed what might be the broadest alternative fee agreement ever with Levi Strauss. Under the agreement, Orrick will handle all of Levi’s non IP legal work for one year (Levi Strauss will continue to retain Townsend for its brand protection work) for a flat fee, paid incrementally. Where Orrick does not have an office, the firm will retain and pay for outside counsel as needed. The financial details of the deal have not been released by either company.

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, founded in 1863, has over 1,100 lawyers worldwide in 21 offices. The firm’s day-to-day administrative operations are centralized at a Global Operations Center in Wheeling, West Virginia.
