Court Denies Government Security to Blackwater Defense Team

In an update to this story a court in Washington DC has ruled that the defense team representing a group of Blackwater security personnel accused of participating in a massacre in Iraq is not entitled to military security when they investigate the incident in Iraq. The defense argued that they were entitled to the same security the prosecution team had while conducting its investigation.

The court said the defense concerns were speculative. “Here, the defendants have made no showing that the government’s unwillingness to provide security to the defense team would effectively deny them access to witnesses and evidence in Iraq,”
