Linklaters’ ‘New World’ Faces Legal Action from Redundant Staffer

British blogs are reporting that Linklaters wants to avoid legal action from a former employee let go during a massive redundancy consultation that targeted 400.

The firm confirmed that it is in talks with the ex-staffer, but would not elaborate on details.

A global restructuring initiative called “Linklaters New World” saw the layoffs of about 200 lawyers and 200 staffers, plus compensation changes. The firm is also encouraging up to 35 partners to leave the firm this year.

Linklaters has 26 offices in 19 countries, and is one of the five members of the “Magic Circle” of prominent UK law firms.
