Aussie AG Boosts Funds for Pro Bono Jobs

Australian Attorney-General Robert McClelland will provide AUD $40,000 ($32,500) to the National Pro Bono Resource Centre, to create paying work for unemployed lawyers, and for employed lawyers who need pro bono hours.

The project helps provide pro bono assistance in regional and rural areas of Australia.

Located at the Law School of the University of New South Wales, the National Pro Bono Resource Centre was established in 2002, by recommendation of the National Pro Bono Task Force to the Commonwealth Attorney-General. The Centre is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee with a Board and Advisory Council.

It is an independent, non profit organization that aims to encourage pro bono legal services, support lawyers and law firms to make it easier for them to provide high quality pro bono legal services, and work with the profession and the community sector to match services with the clients and groups most in need of assistance.
