Alabama Supreme Court Denies Legal Ad Restrictions

The Alabama Supreme Court has decided not to place restrictions on the television and radio ads for lawyers and law firms.

The state Board of Bar Commissioners asked the Supreme Court to ban paid actors, jingles, and wreck videos in an attempt to make ads for attorneys seem more dignified.  William Shatner acted in an ad  for an Alabama law firm that helped raise awareness of the issue.

The board was notified on Monday that the Supreme Court had declined to adopt the changes.  The court gave no reasoning for the decision.

This is the second time that the Supreme Court has declined attempts from the State Board of Bar Commissioners to regulate the manner in which the ads of law firms present themselves.
