Stone & Gerken, P.A., a boutique firm since 1992, is seeking an attorney with 5 to 8 years of litigation experience to join our commercial disputes practice in our Mount Dora office. This is an excellent opportunity for a hard-working and dedicated individual to join our team. The firm is ongoing counsel to local governments, utilities, developers, and businesses with diverse legal needs. The position to be filled involves litigation from inception to trial for those clients. Ideal candidates would have experience in trials; discovery; motion practice and mediation/arbitration. Candidates must be able to work independently and in a team environment. A book of quality business is welcome but not required. Attorneys receive a benefits package which includes health insurance, and the firm also provides a 401K with an employer matching program, subject to vesting. Compensation is expected to be in a range of $80,000 to $115,000 annually, but will be based on education, experience, and productivity. Qualifications: JD from an accredited law school; school selectivity and participation in law review or moot court will be considered Must be admitted to practice law in Florida 5 to 8 years’ experience Deposition and courtroom experience Excellent research and writing skills Responsibilities: • Understand and internalize client priorities and preferences • Maintain client expectations by providing professional and timely updates on cases • Manage a litigation caseload from inception to completion either independently or under the supervision of other attorneys • Conduct excellent legal research and provide thoughtful written analyses of legal questions • Draft motions and briefs with minimal supervision • Collaboratively provide recommendations for resolving legal issues • Communicate with clients and provide detailed reports on case status • Attend hearings and trials on “first chair” basis • Develop case strategies and projections • Handle depositions and court appearances
