Justice Catalyst Law seeks an Impact Litigation Attorney to litigate impact cases that cross boundaries to pursue social justice. This is an incredible opportunity for a self-directed litigator to work on cutting-edge matters with a team of national experts. Justice Catalyst Law Founded in 2016, Justice Catalyst Law is new, lean, and agile. We take on social justice issues that fall between the cracks of traditional advocacy models, connect lawyers and advocates with diverse specialties, and apply a cross-disciplinary, problem-centric approach to the law. For example, in Crain v. Accredited Surety & Bond, we worked with a private firm and other nonprofit organizations to bring an antitrust lawsuit against California bail bonds companies and insurers for fixing bond prices. See the L.A. Times article on this case. Our other matters involve areas as diverse as worker’s rights, consumer debt, civil rights, foreclosure protection, consumer protection, and prisoners’ rights. This broad range reflects our approach: instead of focusing on enforcing a narrow area of law, we first try to understand the injustice, then build a team that can draw on all of the areas of law necessary to address it, with an eye toward activating underused laws and legal theories. Responsibilities Based in Washington, DC, the Impact Litigation Attorney will work closely with our Legal Director and Executive Director to file and litigate class action lawsuits with our diverse network of allies.
