Jordan Herington & Rowley is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal to work closely with product liability attorney on a nationwide case load.  We are looking for someone with a great attitude and a desire to help those injured by defective products. The ideal candidate will be perform high-level procedural and substantive case work.  Past product liability experience a plus but not required. 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience as a litigation paralegal, with trial experience.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to make independent decisions, work with minimal guidance, prioritize multiple concurrent tasks, and work under a tight schedule are all required.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including ability to learn new programs.
  • Experience with document intensive cases, e-discovery, and discovery review platforms preferred.

 

Duties include:

  • Case work up from inception through trial, including acquiring knowledge of case facts, evidence, and litigation strategies to enable substantive case participation and input.
  • Preparing for, attending, and assisting at hearings and trial (taking notes, handling exhibits, coordinating witnesses, reviewing transcripts, etc.).
  • Close client contact and management.
  • Investigative work such as gathering, organizing, and analyzing critical case data and factual information, and obtaining and organizing medical records, incident documents and a wide variety of client records.
  • Drafting disclosures, discovery, discovery responses, and correspondence.
  • Managing case deadlines, calendaring, and scheduling.
  • Researching relevant laws, regulations, and literature (Westlaw).
  • Learn and understand procedural requirements in multiple states, including identification of local rules and procedures and forming close working relationships with co-counsel;
  • Identify various state pro hac rules and prepare pro hac vice motions.
  • Filing pleadings on multiple, nationwide court filing systems.
  • Manage incoming discovery documents, including data input into document management system, document review, and organization.
  • Preparing medical bill review & summarizations.
  • Tracking and monitoring liens.
  • Managing chain of custody of subject products.
  • Sole responsibility for internal case filing and file maintenance.
