Profile

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Evaluating issues and facilitating formulation of technical staff positions;

  • Coordinating preparation of testimony;

  • Preparing pleadings, motions and briefs;

  • Reviewing discovery;

  • Providing representation in hearings and pre-hearing conferences including, as necessary, making oral arguments, examining and cross-examining witnesses.

  • Providing legal advice and assistance to the Commission and/or its representatives concerning procedures, rules, regulations, legislative initiatives, and operations of Commission, including drafting or reviewing and commenting on memoranda, opinions, contracts, rules and other documents.

Qualifications

  • Education :
    • Graduate of an accredited law school.
  • Licensing & Certification :

    • Licensed and in good standing with the Supreme Court of Kansas at the time of appointment.
  • Minimum Qualifications :
    • Minimum of three (3) years, preferably five (5) years of experience in litigation or appellant practice.
    • Excellent writing, legal research, and communication skills.
    • Strong case management experience, preferably in the areas of regulatory, utilities, or energy.
