A boutique law firm providing tax-controversy and litigation services is seeking a tax controversy attorney for its growing practice. The ideal candidate will have 0-5 years of federal tax controversy / tax litigation experience or a demonstrated interest in complex civil disputes with the IRS. The hired attorney will be responsible for developing and coordinating strategies for the defense of multiple real estate partnerships throughout the examination and litigation phases of tax controversies. Candidates should have an experience or a demonstrated interest in handling tax issues before the IRS. The hired attorney will primarily work as part of a small team of other tax controversy specialists handling cases at all stages of controversy with the IRS, including: IRS examinations, administrative appeals, and in litigation in the Tax Court and in the District Courts. This role will involve both direct representation of entities subject to IRS enforcement actions and working with other outside legal counsel to coordinate the representation of related entities. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a small and collegial team that is experiencing tremendous growth, and to gain immediate administrative controversy and trial experience. Minimal travel may be required. However, the candidate will have considerable flexibility to work remotely.
