This is not your typical listing for an associate attorney job. If you are looking for a desk in a big office as you compete to become a partner, scroll to the next listing. Doss Law is the very successful solo law practice of Dennis Doss. Dennis has practiced mortgage law for 40 years and would like to groom a successor, an apprentice, to take over his practice in a few years. Please read some of Dennis' work in the Doss Guides section of dosslaw.com. The ideal apprentice will have these qualities: A. An entrepreneurial, confident outlook but not reckless. The apprentice must want to take over my law practice in a few years when they have earned the trust of my extensive clientele and they are ready. B. Ability to speak in front of large groups C. Trustworthy D. Willingness to learn the vastness of a mortgage practice, including consumer credit laws, Bureau of Real Estate laws and regulations, Department of Business Oversight law, title insurance law, mortgage back securities (private offerings), loan documentation, leasing, entity formation and related topics. E. Willing to attend weekly, evening training classes. F. Self-motivated. You will mostly be working from home, Starbucks or wherever your laptop lands. No litigation is involved--entirely transactional work. Compensation will depend on experience and will be flexible. There is no night or weekend work required (other than a weekly training class). If being hand-groomed to take over a successful law practice is something attractive to you, submit a resume.
