Camille Cantrell Joins Hawkins, Parnell & Thackston

In a statement made to us by Audra Mitchell, the firm’s director of marketing we learn that Camille Cantrell joined the Atlanta office of Hawkins, Parnell & Thackston on February 22, 2010 as a member of the Toxic Tort and Environmental Litigation Practice Group. Camille is involved in multi-jurisdictional toxic tort litigation, including asbestos product liability litigation. Her clients include large national and multi-national corporations.

Camille earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2007.

Bass Berry Associates Complete Training Program

Nashville, Tennessee’s Bass, Berry & Sims has announced the completion of its first associate litigation training program, culminating in full-scale mock jury trials at Vanderbilt University Law School.

The six-month program was designed to provide associates with direct litigation, trial advocacy, and jury persuasion experience. The goal of the training is to prepare associates to become first-chair trial lawyers, a client-service strategy to provide quality service at non-senior rates.

Clips of the training sessions, including opening statements, direct examinations, and closing arguments, are available on YouTube.

In June, the firm laid off 10 associates and 22 staff.

Seyfarth Shaw Brings on Team from Alston & Bird

Chicago-based Seyfarth Shaw, which in May laid off 50 people and reduced salaries, has brought on a new team of corporate and technology partners from Alston & Bird.

Robert C. Reynolds, Jr. is an outsourcing lawyer who co-founded Alston & Bird’s energy infrastructure team. He received his JD from the Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was an editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review and elected to the Order of the Coif. He is admitted to practice law in Georgia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He will work from both Atlanta and Seyfarth’s Washington DC office.

Shawn K. Baldwin, who joins in Atlanta, focuses on strategic corporate transactions. He got his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is admitted to the Georgia Bar.

S. Joel Cartee, who also joins in Atlanta, handles complex global transactions and matters relayed to the Kyoto Protocol. He is a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia. He received his JD from the University of Alabama School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Georgia.

Chicago’s Seyfarth Shaw LLP is a full-service law firm founded in 1945. It has ten offices.

McKool Smith Hires 5 Lawyers in New York City

McKool Smith, which brought on two new partners in March, has now hired five attorneys for its New York office.

Eric P. Berger joins from Quinn Emanuel in New York. He handles intellectual property matters, including electrical engineering patent litigation. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, before graduating cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law.

Virginia Iglesia joins from Greenberg Traurig in Miami. She graduated from Emory University School of Law and holds a master’s degree in communications from Florida International University.

John F. Petrsoric joins from Goodwin Procter. He graduated from Fordham University School of Law, and has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University.

Katherine B. Thornburgh joins McKool Smith from Howrey. She represents clients in government investigations, internal investigations, commercial litigation and intellectual property matters. She earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Benjamin J. Warlick joins from Paul Weiss. He handles patent and antitrust litigation. He has a JD from the New York University School of Law and a masters degree in electrical engineering from the University of California Berkeley.

McKool Smith has offices in Dallas, Austin & Marshall, Texas; plus New York City and Washington DC.
