Dallas Attorneys Found New Firm

Three noted Dallas attorneys have founded their own firm, Reyes Bartolomei Browne.

Angel Reyes III, Luis Bartolomei, Spencer Browne and Ryan Browne will work on all types of complex business litigation and life-altering personal injury cases.

Reyes serves on the boards of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association, and the Texas & Dallas Trial Lawyers Associations. He earned his MBA from the Rawls School of Business at Texas Tech University and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

Bartolomei earned his law degree from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. Browne also graduated from Dedman.

Reyes Bartolomei Browne is a Dallas, Texas-based trial law firm that handles business litigation matters and life-altering personal injury cases.

Grand Law Firm Launches New Orleans Office

Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s Grand Law Firm has opened its second office, in New Orleans.

The bankruptcy boutique, founded 15 years ago by attorney Trenton A. Grand, advises clients with financial difficulties, foreclosures, garnishments, lawsuits and harassment by creditors.

According to the firm’s web site, it employs four lawyers, including Grand. It has its own title company. Grand Law also handles personal injury and vehicular accident matters.

LakinChapman Lawyers Leave to Found New Firm

Four former LakinChapman attorneys have left to found a new firm in Alton, Illinois, called Armbruster, Dripps, Winterscheidt & Blotevogel.

The firm will will represent plaintiffs in personal injury cases.

The attorneys are Charles Armbruster, Michael Blotevogel, Roy Dripps and John Winterscheidt.

Armbruster, Dripps, Winterscheidt & Blotevogel is a plaintiff’s personal injury firm, representing individuals throughout the United States who are injured at work, and others who are injured as a result of the misconduct of railroads, barge companies, nursing homes or other corporations.

Gibson & Behman Opens St. Croix Office

Gibson & Behman has announced its new office on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.

Brian Dougan, a director with Gibson & Behman and head of the firm’s Rhode Island office, will oversee the new St. Croix location, working with a team of attorneys and administrative support staff.

The St. Croix office will replace the firm’s St. John location, and will allow better access to district courts in both St. Croix and St. Thomas.

The St. Croix practice will focus on civil litigation, personal injury, product liability and workers compensation for businesses and insurance companies throughout St. Croix and St. Thomas.

Founded in 1987, Gibson & Behman has offices throughout the northeast, in Florida and California.

Maryland Law Firms Merge

Maryland law firms Berman, Sobin & Gross and Albertini and Darby have merged, to create Berman, Sobin, Gross, Feldman & Darby.

The new firm will retain primary offices in Baltimore and Gaithersburg, but also has offices in Cockeysville, Columbia, Cumberland, Largo, Linthicum and Suitland, as well as Arlington, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

The firm covers worker’s compensation, Social Security disability, personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, railroad accidents, maritime accidents, small business, estate planning, probate, elder law, domestic and general practice.

The firm has six partners: Clifford Sobin, Alan B. Gross, Kenneth Berman, David Galinis, Michael Feldman and P. Matthew Darby. It also employs 10 associates, two of counsel, and a support staff of 30.

Former partner Guy Albertini will remain in an of counsel capacity.

Lakin Law Firm Renamed In Wake of Drug Scandal

The Lakin Law Firm has been renamed LakinChapman LLC, and former Appellate Court Judge Charles Chapman will join Brad Lakin as a named minority partner in the Wood River, Illinois firm.

Chapman, 66, was a Madison County circuit judge from 1979 to 1988, when he has elected to the 5th District Appellate Court in Mount Vernon.

Following his retirement from the bench in 2001, Chapman has been engaged in a trial practice as an attorney associated with the Lakin Law Firm.

The firm will be divided into seven practice areas: maritime law, railroad law, class action, nursing home abuse, workers compensation, personal injury and appellate law.

In October, Tom Lakin, founder of the Lakin Law Firm, was sentenced to six years in prison for drug charges. Lakin pleaded guilty to drug charges of possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, distributing cocaine to a person under 21 and maintaining a drug house.

McNeely Stephenson Opens First Satellite Office in New Albany

Shelbyville, Indiana’s McNeely, Stephenson, Thopy & Harrold has opened its first satellite office in New Albany.

The office was established to service a growing base of corporate clients between New Albany and Evansville, according to Lee McNeely, the firm’s senior partner. The firm will focus on litigation and corporate law.

Larry Church, formerly an attorney with Louisville, Kentucky’s Wyatt Tarrant & Combs LLP, will be the partner in charge of the New Albany office. Richard Bierly also will serve as a partner in the firm, which will include an associate attorney, a paralegal and two office staff employees.

McNeely, Stephenson, Thopy & Harrold was founded in 1976. The firm handles business transactions, personal injury litigation, and insurance defense litigation, with 18 attorneys and 53 staff members.

Greenspoon Marder Expands, Adds Four Lawyers

Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s Greenspoon Marder has opened a new office in Stuart, Florida, adding four attorneys.

The 72-lawyer firm added its sixth office to accommodate two new lawyers who joined the firm and have practices in Stuart, said partner Gerald Greenspoon. Chad Paiva heads up the consumer and bankruptcy practice, and Marc Cohen leads the collections practice.

The firm also added family law specialists Mark Rabinowitz and Elizabeth Tener.

The firm anticipated the devastating drop in real estate and corporate business that hit Florida and elsewhere and began preparing more than two years ago. Looking to diversify, the firm began representing lenders in residential foreclosures, and beefed up its personal injury plaintiff practice, which is immune to a downturn in the economy.

Additionally, lawyers practicing in real estate and corporate were switched to other areas, such as bankruptcy workout and litigation.

Established in 1981, Greenspoon Marder has Florida offices in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Aventura, Boca Raton and Stuart.
