<p>Eckert Seamans Cherin &amp; Mellott, LLC, announced in recent days that James C. Falvey and Allen Bachman have joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as Members.</p>
<p>Edward J. Longosz, II, Member-in-Charge of the firm’s Washington office was quoted as saying in a press release at the firm’s website: “The addition of Jim Falvey and Allen Bachman is another significant step forward for Eckert Seamans’ Washington office, our Firm and our clients. These attorneys bring the experience and relationships that complement and broaden our legal team as we deliver the highest quality legal counsel on the most complex and critical issues facing clients today.”</p>
<p>Jim Falvey concentrates his practice on telecommunications and other utility matters. Before joining the firm, he served as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Senior Counsel for Pac-West Telecomm, Inc. In this role, he managed regulatory and legislative matters and effectively addressed a broad range of regulatory challenges at the federal, state, and local level. During the past fifteen years, Falvey also served in various in-house regulatory counsel and senior leadership roles with CoreTel Communications, Time Warner Telecom, Xspedius Communications, and e.spire Communications. Before that, he also spent six years in private practice in Washington, D.C. and two years as a legislative assistant to Senator Harry Reid.</p>
<p>Allen Bachman advises clients on a wide range of antitrust, competition, and consumer protection issues on a regular basis. He also possesses significant experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings. He advises on all aspects of antitrust, competition and consumer protection law. He regularly represents clients in Hart-Scott-Rodino merger clearance matters before the Department of Justice Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade commission. He also counsels on antitrust and consumer protection on a wide range of issues, including internal audits and price fixing inquiries and marketing and sales practices. He also represents clients in complex commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings including antitrust, securities class actions, breach of contract and other general commercial litigation matters. Before practicing law, he served as an economic analyst for the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division.</p>
<p>Ed Longosz has an established practice on both a local and nationwide level, with a wide range of experience in complex civil litigation, in all aspects of commercial, business torts, the representation of airlines on passenger and cargo claims, commercial and regulatory matters, insurance coverage, contract disputes, agency disputes and bad faith cases, as well as defense of toxic torts, product liability, and D&amp;O matters. He serves as the Commercial Litigation Practice Group Chair for Washington, DC and Richmond, VA.</p>

All six come from the firm of LeClairRyan.  The office, which opened <a href="http://www.jdjournal.com/2009/11/03/eckert-seamans-opens-virgina-office-and-pick-up-4-from-troutman-sanders/">last October</a>when a group of former Troutman Sanders attorneys made the jump, had been staffed by a single lawyer up until now.</p>
<p>Partners David Clarke, Thomas Lisk and Richard Savage III will be part of the government affairs and regulatory practice group.  All three have extensive experience with lobbying, regulatory and administrative law.  In addition three non lawyer lobbyists, Mary Fox, Nicole Riley and Lisa Foster have joined, forming a government relations group headed by Fox.</p>
<p>Eckert Seamans Cherin &amp; Mellott, LLC is a national full-service law firm based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with two offices located in the Pittsburgh area and nine other offices located throughout the eastern United States.</p>

Three other Troutman Sanders attorneys have joined Eckert Seamans in the firm&#8217;s Washington DC office.  All four attorneys have practices concentrated on electric utility, telecommunications and other regulated industry work.</p>
<p>In addition to Kirsner, the three attorneys joining the DC office as members are Charles Zdebski, Raymond Kowalski and Eric Schwalb.  At Troutman Sanders, Zdebski was a partner, Kowalski was of counsel and Schwalb was a senior associate.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright" src="http://www.jdjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/eckert_160x120.jpg" alt="Eckert Seamans" />The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania office of Pittsburgh&#8217;s <a href="http://www.jdjournal.com/tag/eckert-seamans-cherin-mellott/" target="_self">Eckert Seamans</a> has hired 12 lawyers from the defunct Wolf Block’s Harrisburg office.</p>
<p>The combined Harrisburg office will house 36 attorneys. Eckert and Wolf Block are located in the same building, and Eckert will take over the dissolving firm&#8217;s offices.</p>
<p>Eckert says it may pick up more Wolf Block refugees.</p>
<p>Eckert Seamans Cherin &amp; Mellott, LLC is a national full-service law firm based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with two offices located in the Pittsburgh area and eight other offices located throughout the eastern United States.</p>
<p>The firm employs crazy far-right ex-Senator nutjob Rick Santorum.</p>
