			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-13919" title="appleby_160x120" src="http://www.jdjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/appleby_160x120.jpg" alt="" width="160" height="120" />Bermuda’s <a href="http://www.jdjournal.com/tag/appleby-global/" target="_self">Appleby Global</a>, which just <a href="http://www.jdjournal.com/2009/06/18/appleby-merging-with-dickinson-cruickshank/" target="_self">announced a merger</a> with the Isle of Man’s <a href="http://www.jdjournal.com/tag/dickinson-cruickshank/" target="_self">Dickinson Cruickshank</a>, is opening an office in the Seychelles. It will be the only offshore firm operating there.</p>
<p>The office in Victoria will managed by partner-in-charge of the firm&#8217;s Mauritius office, Malcolm Moller. Appleby opened the office in Mauritius in February 2007.</p>
<p>Appleby has also hired Conrad Benoiton, chairman of the Seychelles International Business Authority, to be the managing director of its corporate practice in Victoria.</p>
<p>The firm seeks to expand the new office, but need lawyers with experience in British law.</p>
<p>The Republic of Seychelles is an archipelago nation of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, 930 miles east of mainland Africa, northeast of the island of Madagascar.</p>
<p>Appleby, previously Appleby Spurling Hunter, is an offshore legal, fiduciary and administration service provider, created by the merger of Bermuda’s Appleby Spurling Kemp and the Cayman Islands’ Hunter &amp; Hunter in 2004, and a subsequent merger with Jersey, UK’s Bailhache Labesse in 2006.</p>
<p>It has offices in the key offshore locations of Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Jersey, Mauritius and the Seychelles, as well as London, Hong Kong and Zurich. It plans to open an office in Dubai.</p>

<p>Founded in 1899, Dickinson Cruickshank is one of the longest-established law firms on the self-governing UK Crown dependency of the Isle of Man. It has 11 partners, 27 other lawyers, 17 fiduciary service providers and a total staff of 119.</p>
