Three Join McKool Smith’s Bankruptcy Practice

McKool Smith, says PR Newswire, has added two veteran litigators and a former federal bankruptcy clerk to its bankruptcy roster. The three, Christoper D. Johnson, Ruth A. Van Meter and Nicholas Zugaro, join McKool at its Houston office.

Mr. Johnson, formerly of Selman, Munson & Lerner, has extensive experience in federal bankruptcy practice. Ms. Van Meter’s practice involves bankruptcy, corporate transactions, commercial litigation and insurance defense. In addition, the former Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr attorney has an accomplished appellate record.

Yesterday, in New York, Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ Bankruptcy practice group was honored by Chambers as top dog in the industry with an Award for Excellence. The awards ceremony coincided with the release of the 2010 edition of Chambers USA.

According to a JDJournal tipster, Phoenix law firm Gallagher & Kennedy has hired a bankruptcy group away from the crosstown office of Greenberg Traurig.

Patton Boggs Adds Bankruptcy Team from Foley & Lardner

Patton Boggs has hired away a three-person bankruptcy team from Foley & Lardner.

Michael Richman was chairman of Foley’s bankruptcy & business reorganization practice. Mark Salzberg and Erika Morabito were partners.

Richman, former chairman of the American Bankruptcy Institute, will lead the firm’s national bankruptcy practice across its New York City, Washington DC, Dallas and Virginia offices. Richman will practice from New York, while Salzberg and Morabito will work in DC.

Greenberg Traurig Adds Haynes to Bankruptcy Practice

The international law firm Greenberg Traurig has added Nathan A. Haynes to its New York office as a shareholder in the Business Reorganization & Bankruptcy Practice group.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Haynes was with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP where he was recently elected to the partnership.

Haynes represents debtors in Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings with a focus on the airline industry. He also represents creditors in Chapter 11 cases and is experienced in defending avoidance actions. Haynes additionally represents both sellers and bidders in bankruptcy asset sales.
