Our Writers are currently looking for input on a number of hard-hitting and fascinating topics that will be covered in our April/May 2007 edition.
With reality television at the height of its popularity and with approximately one million lawyers in the United States, we know that lawyers and game shows/reality television must intersect. We are searching for lawyers who may have appeared on and/or won any reality shows or game shows such as "Survivor" and "The Apprentice." If you have contact with any lawyers or people with a law background who have recently appeared on any reality TV shows or games shows, please email me. Contact: Mary Waldron, maryw@jdjournal.com
Why do so many women and minority attorneys voluntarily leave the corporate law firm environment? Examining women and minority lawyers and their experiences of isolation and loneliness and the difficulties of connecting with co-workers with different backgrounds will be a main focus of this article. We will explore why these reasons may prompt well-qualified female and minority attorneys to leave the corporate law environment, even where overt racism is not an issue. If you have any information pertaining to this subject, please e-mail me. Contact: Heather Newton, hnewton@jdjournal.com
I am interested in interviewing an attorney, stylist, or fashion consultant on the subject of what is currently fashionable for male lawyers, as well as tips for ideal court-wear. Contact: Lancelot Larsen, lancel@jdjournal.com
Can Lawyers follow their own faith and practice law? Can lawyers maintain their faith while facing potential moral dilemmas, for example, lawyers who defend possible murderers, drug dealers, or hard criminals, etc. I want to know how a lawyer who has a deep rooted religious belief system can work in this type of field, and if so, how? Do they need to compartmentalize their job and their belief system or can both coexist peaceably? I'm exploring lawyers of various faiths and would like to hear from a broad perspective of religious beliefs. I have many Christian and Jewish lawyers who want to participate, but I'm looking for wider variety. Please contact me at: mmills@jdjournal.com
As a member of the legal profession have you ever been treated positively, negatively, or otherwise, as a result of your physical appearance? Do you have any stories of professional judgment based solely on your looks? If so, contact: Anique Gonzalez, agonzalez@jdjournal.com
