Drema Setliff - Naked Woman Attempts to Rob Convenience Store

Summary: Naked woman carrying a towel wanders into a convenience store and attempts to rob the clerk.

Charleston Police were notified of a robbery attempt early Thursday morning at the One Stop convenience store. Coincidentally, the same officers were responding to the report of a naked woman wandering through an adjacent parking lot, according to MyFoxDC.

To the surprise of many, the two reports involved the same nude suspect. The disrobed woman was identified as 30-year-old Drema Setliff.

When officers arrived at the convenience store they found their bare suspect hiding in the store’s electrical closet. Observers informed police that the woman wandered into the store carrying a towel. She then gripped the female attendant by the hair and instructed her to open the safe, the Charleston Daily Mail reported.

A customer helped the clerk escape by distracting the distraught suspect and holding the door open. The customer then stayed until the police officers arrived. Shortly after the incident, Setliff retreated to the electrical closet, where she remained until officers arrived.

According to the Associated Press, when she was discovered she instructed the deputies to “Take me to jail.”

It is a mystery to Corporal Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department why Setliff was naked and not using the towel to cover her body. He strongly suspects that drugs or alcohol may be a factor, according to WVGazette.com.

Her request to go to jail was granted. An arraignment was attempted Thursday morning but she was sobbing and refused to speak to the judge, WSAZ TV reports.

A second attempt to arraign her will be made on Friday. Her bond will be set at $50,000.
